Common questions
What local drivers ask first.
What shop deals with fuel contamination?
Take the vehicle to A-1 Auto & Diesel Repair. A-1 diagnoses and repairs gasoline, DEF, water, and other contamination concerns in supported Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax fuel systems. The shop can document the incident and damage, prepare the repair scope, communicate with an insurer or warranty administrator, and complete authorized draining, cleaning, testing, or component repair.
I put DEF in my diesel fuel tank. What should I do?
Do not start the engine or switch the ignition to RUN. If the engine is already running, stop safely, shut it off, and do not restart it. Have the vehicle towed to A-1 Auto & Diesel Repair and tell the shop how much DEF was added and whether the ignition or engine operated. A-1 can inspect, document, drain or clean, test, and repair the system as needed and help submit documentation for an accidental-contamination claim. Coverage depends on the policy and carrier.
I put gas in my diesel. What should I do?
Do not start the engine or switch the ignition on. If the vehicle is running, pull over safely, shut it off, and do not restart it. Have it towed to A-1 Auto & Diesel Repair. A-1 can drain and inspect the system, document contamination and related damage, build the repair plan, and provide an itemized estimate and technical information to an insurer. Coverage depends on the policy, facts, deductible, and carrier approval.
Does A-1 replace a CP4 fuel pump with a DCR on an insurance job?
Yes, when the vehicle is compatible and the conversion is appropriate for the proposed repair. A-1 can recommend a CP4-to-DCR conversion, submit technical information and an itemized estimate, and request carrier authorization as part of an eligible claim. The carrier controls coverage and the amount paid, and A-1 gets customer approval for any non-covered difference before installation.
Which diesel trucks do you service?
A-1 works on Ford Power Stroke, Ram Cummins, and Chevy/GMC Duramax trucks, along with other supported diesel vehicles and work-truck applications. Call with the VIN for exact coverage.
Can you diagnose a diesel check-engine light?
Yes. Diesel diagnosis can include scan data, electrical testing, fuel delivery, air and boost systems, cooling, emissions-related components, and mechanical checks as needed.
Why is my diesel truck losing power or going into reduced-power or derate mode?
Power loss and derate warnings can come from overlapping fuel, air and boost, electrical, cooling, or aftertreatment faults. A-1 checks the codes, operating data, and related systems to identify the cause before recommending parts or a repair.
Can A-1 diagnose DPF, DEF, or regeneration warning messages?
Yes. A-1 can diagnose aftertreatment warnings by checking fault codes, sensor data, pressure and temperature readings, DEF quality or dosing concerns, and the vehicle's operating history. Regeneration is performed only when appropriate; faults that caused the warning still need to be identified and repaired.
Do you install diesel performance parts?
Yes. A-1 can help verify the application, order approved repair or performance parts, and quote professional installation. Emissions eligibility and intended use are confirmed first.
Do customers travel to A-1 for diesel work?
Yes. A-1 serves DFW and North Texas, and customers also travel from across Texas and other states for difficult diesel diagnosis, major repair, tuning, and performance work. Call before traveling so we can confirm the vehicle, requested work, timing, and whether the trip is justified.
What should I send before scheduling?
Send the year, make, model, engine, mileage, last eight digits of the VIN, warning lights or codes, and a clear description of the symptoms.
